Rooting for Smarty Jones
It’s Belmont Stakes week and the Philly region’s top trafficked realty website
changes its name to: Smarty Agent (www.smartyagent.com) in honor of a great horse.
We all know Philadelphia loves underdog winners.
So is it any wonder one of the Philadelphia region’s hottest technology firms, with a similar ‘smart’ name, caught the Smarty Jones bug and changed its website name to root for the 4-legged star.

“My wife begrudgingly watches sports on TV, including the Super Bowl - but she can’t wait to watch Smarty Jones in the Belmont this Saturday, notes CEO Brad W. Blumberg. If she wasn’t having a baby this week, she would have probably insisted we go to Philadelphia Park to see Smarty Jones train!”
Only a few in-the-know technology and real estate folks could tell you Smarter Agent runs the #1 ranked real estate company website in the region. The firm was recently named a finalist in the 2004 Ben Franklin “Emerging Business of the Decade” awards, and won “Most Innovative New Product” in its last outing in 2002”.
With over 3 million hits a month, Philly region homebuyers have declared Smarter Agent a winner – much as the country has already crowned Smarty Jones. In its own triple crown run, the little Philly firm is expanding to Virginia, Florida and California.
According to Alexa.com, Amazon’s web traffic ranking site, tiny but powerful Smarter Agent has the highest-ranking numbers of ANY real estate firm or Realtorä based in the Philadelphia region. That means Smarter Agent is ranked higher than powerhouse Prudential Fox and Roach or the many large ReMax and Century21 firms operating in the region.
So will the name change stick? “Well, we have to stay with the horse that got us here”, noted CEO Blumberg. “Plus there would be a lot of paperwork from all the state real estate commissions - so the name Smarter Agent isn’t ready for pasture”. “But for years to come, you will always be able to access our website by typing in www.smartyagent.com - we just love that horse.”
Like a true Philly sports fan, Smarty Agent will hold onto a winner forever.
